Getting to the start
About 40 minutes from Sangbong Station to Gapyeong on the ITX-Cheongchun. The regular Gyeongchun line also stops but takes longer. The city tour bus outside Gapyeong Station loops the main sights and is by far the simplest way around.

Garden of Morning Calm
Gapyeong, Gyeonggi · 2h 30mA large hillside garden. In winter it runs a night light festival, which turns the off-season into its busiest time.

The city tour bus serves both. Headways are 30 minutes or more, so check the timetable before you move. Nami Island needs a ferry and the last one is early — linger too long at the garden and you'll miss it.

Ferry from Gapyeong · 3hThe river island famous for its metasequoia avenue. Administratively it is in Chuncheon, but the ferry leaves from Gapyeong. The fare doubles as admission.
