Getting to the start

Jongno 3-ga Station (Lines 1, 3, 5) Exit 4 opens onto the entrance of the Ikseon-dong lanes. They're narrow and get packed on weekend evenings — a weekday night is much better.

The route

  1. 1

    Ikseon-dong Hanok Street

    Jongno 3-ga · 1h

Converted hanok packed along narrow lanes. Where Bukchon is a quiet residential area, this one lights up at night. The alleys are tight — on a weekend evening you move with the crowd.

  2. Subway12m

Two stops on Line 5 from Jongno 3-ga to Dongdaemun History & Culture Park. Exit 1 connects underground straight into DDP — you never surface.

    2

    DDP Dongdaemun Design Plaza

    Dongdaemun · 1h 30m

Zaha Hadid's curving building. Exhibitions are ticketed, but the walkways and rooftop lawn are open free around the clock. It's better at night, when the lighting comes on.
