Getting to the start

About 1h20 from Seoul Station to Munsan on the Gyeongui-Jungang line, then 15 minutes by bus or taxi. Going past Imjingak into the DMZ itself needs a separate booking and your passport.

The route

  1. 1

    Imjingak Peace Park

    Paju, Gyeonggi · 2h

The furthest north you can go without a permit. The severed railway bridge and the Freedom Bridge are still standing. The park is free; DMZ tours beyond it need separate booking.

  2. Bus50m

By public transport you have to backtrack toward Munsan or Geumchon and change, which takes close to an hour. If you want both in one day, drive or take a taxi. On buses alone, pick one.

    2

    Heyri Art Village

    Paju, Gyeonggi · 2h

A village designed and built by architects and artists. Galleries and studios are scattered around, and each keeps its own closing day — check before you go.
