Getting to the start
About an hour from Seoul Station on a Line 1 express to Suwon, then a bus from the station forecourt to Janganmun. Starting at the north gate means less climbing.

Hwaseong Fortress
Suwon, Gyeonggi · 2h 30mA 5.7km Joseon fortress wall and UNESCO site that you can actually walk along the top of. The full loop takes over two hours — the Janganmun to Hwaseomun stretch is enough.

Follow the wall south and it delivers you to the square in front of the palace. It's the natural end of the wall walk, so keep the order.
2Hwaseong Haenggung Palace
Suwon, Gyeonggi · 1h 30mThe temporary palace King Jeongjo stayed in when he visited the fortress. It sits at the south end, so it follows naturally after the wall walk.
