Getting to the start

Daegongwon Station (Line 4) Exit 6 puts you at the science museum door. It is about 40 minutes from central Seoul. It closes on Mondays, so check the day.

   Most of it is hands-on rather than something you read, which makes it work with kids. There is a planetarium and an outdoor dinosaur area, and the indoor halls are big enough to fill a rainy day. It shares a station with Seoul Grand Park, so the two combine.

   Walk back to Daegongwon Station and out to the plaza by Exit 2, which is the Seoul Grand Park entrance. From the plaza, take the elephant tram to the zoo or walk about 20 minutes uphill.

   Gwacheon, Gyeonggi · 3h

   Shares the grounds with Seoul Land, so you can do both in a day. It's big and hilly — take the tram or the chairlift rather than walking it all.
