Getting to the start

8 min walk from Anguk Station (Line 3) Exit 1: past the Anguk-dong crossing and on toward Gyeongbokgung. You pass Gallery Hyundai and the Kumho Museum, then reach MMCA Seoul. Gyeongbokgung Station (Line 3) Exit 4 and Gwanghwamun Station (Line 5) Exit 2 also work.

   Beside the eastern wall of Gyeongbokgung, where a former military building and a new wing face each other across a courtyard. It runs changing exhibitions rather than a permanent collection, so it is different every visit — worth checking what is on before you go.

   Cross Samcheong-ro from the museum and you are at the National Folk Museum gate. It stands inside Gyeongbokgung, but entering here means you do not need a palace ticket.

   It sits inside the Gyeongbokgung walls but has its own gate on Samcheong-ro, so you can visit without a palace ticket. The permanent halls on daily life and the seasonal calendar are free. Outside there is a separate street rebuilt to look like the 1970s.

3. Walk10m

   Head south down Samcheong-ro and turn into Yulgok-ro 3-gil for the Seoul Museum of Craft Art. It is downhill, and it sits on the way back to Anguk Station — a natural last stop.

   A craft museum built into the buildings of a former school, kept as they were. The courtyards between them stay open, so you can walk through even without going into an exhibition. It sits between Anguk Station and Insadong, which makes it easy to slot in.
