Getting to the start
Hyehwa Station
혜화역
Hyehwa Station (Line 4) Exit 2 comes out at Marronnier Park. At weekends there are street performances in the square.
The route
- 1
Marronnier Park
Daehangno / Hyehwa · 50mThe square at the centre of Daehangno's small-theatre district. Street performances run through the weekend, and more than a hundred theatres sit in the lanes around it. The park itself is small — it is a place you start from rather than stay in.
- Walk12m
Head east from the park up Naksan-gil. It is uphill the whole way, about 12 minutes. If that is too much, the Jongno 03 village bus from Dongdaemun Station (Line 1) Exit 5 runs to the Naksan Park terminus.
2Naksan Park
Hyehwa / Dongdaemun · 1h 30mA hill park where the old city wall runs along the ridge. You walk beside the wall with the centre of Seoul laid out below, and the wall is lit after dark. Free, never closed, so a late visit for the night view works. The way up is uphill the whole way.
